| In connection with the project, Professors Elkins and Ginsburg teach two
courses on Comparative Constitutional Design. The undergraduate version
of the course is open to select undergraduates by invitation. The
graduate version is open to both Political Science graduate students and
law students.
These courses examine the design and implementation of national constitutions. In particular, the courses address the following questions. What are the basic elements of constitutions? How do these elements differ across time, across region, and across regime type? What is the process by which states draft and implement constitutions? What models, theories, and writings have influenced the framers of constitutions? |
